Mind Games: Overcoming setbacks (climbing in lockdown)

At the turn of the year, pro climber Alex Waterhouse was looking forward to his debut on the IFSC circuit. Then 2020 happened and the season was cancelled. Alex discusses lockdown from the perspective of a pro athlete, from letting go of a long-held dream to rediscovering his motivation to train hard, despite many setbacks.

In accordance with national lockdown measures in England, our venues in Liverpool, London and Plymouth will be closed from Thursday 5 November 2020, for a minimum of one month. Coronavirus update: TCH Swansea to close temporarily

Following today’s announcement of a nationwide ‘Fire Break Lockdown’ by the Welsh government, The Climbing Hangar Swansea will close from 23 October 2020 for 17 days with an estimated reopening date of 9 November 2020, although this date will remain under review. All memberships will be frozen, but members can choose to reinstate their membership payment in order to support the Hangar crew. Click here to learn more.

Hangar Liverpool sites to close

Due to the categorisation of Liverpool as "high risk" in the government's new three tier lockdown structure, The Climbing Hangar Liverpool Sandhills and Liverpool Matchworks will close from Wednesday 14 October 2020.
